Microcomputer Interfacing

W06

W08

The course topics cover basic concepts of analog and digital electronics,
programming in Microsoft Visual Basic and LabVIEW.
Students taking this course learn how to use computers for data acquisition,
instrument control and laboratory user interface development through hand-on experiments.

Course Objectives:

The students learn basic microcomputer hardware and software interfacing technologies.

Specifically, students will be able to:

1. Design interfacing hardware.

2. Select appropriate interfacing devices for the applications considered.

3. Write programs for data acquisition, instrument control, and user interface.

4. Develop applications for microcontrollers such as the Parallax Basic Stamp.
