Open Rank Faculty Search in Organic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Oregon State University seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The preferred starting date is Fall, 2008; an earlier date may be accommodated. Appointment may be made at Assistant or Associate Professor levels depending on qualifications; exceptional candidates will also be considered at the Full Professor level. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or allied discipline, capabilities for developing and maintaining a strong research program, and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Preference will be given to applicants whose research areas include, but are not limited to, organic chemistry relevant to biology, synthesis, and/or materials. The possibility for interactions with other parts of the University (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry & Biophysics) will be viewed favorably; a new drug discovery initiative, Oregon Translational Research and Drug Development Institute (OTRADI), recently funded by the State of Oregon provides incentives for such interdisciplinary work. Instructional contribution to the curriculum in organic chemistry is required. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. See https://jobs.oregonstate.edu/ for more information [PDF File of Position Description].

All application documents must be submitted electronically at https://jobs.oregonstate.edu/; applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, list of publications, and a description of proposed research. Three letters of recommendation should be separately submitted to orgchem@science.oregonstate.edu. For full consideration, all materials should be submitted by October 1, 2007. The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2007. Oregon State University is an AA/EOE.
